Names in Drau-Mura
A while ago, I made a big list of names used in Drau-Mura. It is probably handy if you want to pick out a name yourself, or interpolate a plausible name. Non-human races tend to have the names described in the Player’s Handbook. Many of these names can be easily gender-flipped, e.g. Theodor becomes Theodora.
Common, compound-word surnames can be mixed and matched via marriage and offspring, e.g. Mr. Applegate and Ms. Skywatch’s children might take on the surname Skygate. This kind of crass bricolage is practiced mainly by peasant families. The poor might also pick out names that refer to their labor, e.g. Cobbler. A considerable number of peasants — around one in six — simply eschew a surname, using an adjacent name to specify who they are if need be, e.g. Judith, daughter of Andrei, or Judith from St. Oranos.
Eastern Tribes’ full names are (among the respectable families, anyway): [First name] [Matronym/Patronym] [Surname]-[Tribe name], e.g. Cyrus di-Modius Odras-Cold Sun.
Of the human ethnic groups in Drau-Mura, the Sky-born are by far the most likely to use their own particular surnames, which use the Draconic language.
